Finally my film is here!!

Wondrous day! My roll of film is finally back from the lab, I am so happy to share! Growing up, we had a Polaroid camera and by the time I started shooting as a hobby, digital cameras were all the rage so I never got to experience developing my own roll of film. Well, I have to admit it’s not fun waiting- at all. It felt like Christmas all over again and as each day passed I grew more impatient. I thought Monday would not get here but, finally it did (sloowwwly) and I am so happy to share my first film photos.

Before you scroll down, please keep in mind that I used pretty cheap film since I wasn’t sure what to expect. In fear that the roll was filled with ruined blown-out images, I again went cheap and developed at an affordable lab- Walmart. I was definitely not impressed by the quality of the prints, but considering it was my first time I am satisfied. ^.^

I also want to share that since I am a digital shooter, my first experience with film was different and admittedly a little awkward!  But, also almost enlightening… it really made me think about the composition of each image. I kept changing my mind and recomposing but once I committed to the shot, the click of the shutter was SO gratifying.

Just for fun, I also included an image from my 5D mkII from that day.  Can anyone spot it???

Jon T. - I would have actually said #2 or #5… #5 has a lot of CA (which is usually resulting from digital sensors) but #2 has a bokeh that doesn’t match the others. :)
